Ah, November! We're glad you're here. :)
We recently had a fun family fall outing at Sweetfields Farm in Masaryktown, Florida, and had an amazing time experiencing all the great things that the farm had to offer, especially the corn maze! Since we are both originally from up north (Amanda from Buffalo, NY and Jess from Rockford, IL) - we often reminisce about the seasons changing and all of the great fall activities that come with it.
Sweetfields Farm practices organic growing methods, and is own and operated by a small family, the Kessels. We love that they open their farm to the public to allow us to learn and support local agriculture. To see more about their farm, click here. We're especially loving the fact that they feel so strongly about their kiddos just as any parent does, and take a large part in educating their children and others on the importance of farming and hard work. And you can also visit the farm to pick the seasonal organic produce yourself!
Our day at the farm was filled with seeing lots of farm animals, making a scarecrow craft, watching the pig races, picking pumpkins in the pumpkin patch, playing on the hay bales and in tot friendly mazes, eating yummy pulled pork sandwiches and drinking organic homemade lemonade, and of course, the amazing corn maze! They provided a question sheet to help you determine to go "left" or "right" when you reached certain numbered signs within the maze, and while we loved going through it and trying to find our way, we definitely could have used some much, much cooler weather. Corn mazes in the brutal Florida sunshine and 85+ degree temperatures make everyone cranky, and maybe a little claustrophobic. ;) We were a little bummed that we didn't get to do the hayride (two strollers + two cranky tots), so we're hoping to try it next fall. You can also see a fun little video that we made from our visit to Sweetfields Farm (below).
We hope that you and your family are enjoying some fun fall events too! :)
