Current Makeup Bag Essentials - Jess

Now that you've seen some of the beauty products that Amanda loves, I'm excited to share with you some of my own beauty favorites that are currently smooshed into my Kipling case. :)

My cousin Sarah and I have always been beauty product junkies. We were always fascinated with our mom's cosmetics and perfumes. Once, we dumped shaving cream, hair gel, hair mousse, lotions, oils - basically, any bath, body or beauty product we could find, in the bathroom sink - calling it our very own "magic beauty cream". As you can imagine, this didn't impress our mothers. ;) As we got older, you could always find us with the newest flavors of Bonne Belle Lip Smackers lip balms, and I recall that we always had them stashed everywhere - in our pockets, backpacks, desk drawers - and getting a giant tube filled with Lip Smackers flavors as a gift was seriously just the best thing ever, we used them all of the time! Now that those days are behind us, Sarah and I are still always on our lip balm and lip gloss game, sending beauty tips to one another, sharing our latest and greatest beauty finds, and yes, sending each other care packages chock full of - you know it - beauty loot. At least we've moved past the fact that we shouldn't be developing magic beauty creams and leave it to the real pros. ;)

Most days, I'm working from home. So that usually means I'm in comfy clothes, and really don't need a done-up face (er, hair for that matter). I promise, I haven't let myself go! I do make an effort when I know E and I are meeting up with other mom friends and their kiddos, or if I'm going somewhere where I know I should probably look presentable - and not scare anyone off! Ha! I still love being a girly girl and putting on that statement necklace or a few fun accessories, doing my hair, and painting my nails. :)

When I do have time to put on my makeup, I really love Aveeno Positively Radiant Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 30. Like we've mentioned before, the Florida sunshine can be really brutal, and I have skin that is sensitive and tans very easily, and sadly, scars very easily too. Any sun protection I can give it to prevent dark marks from going darker + providing some tinted moisturizing are all a plus for me. I've also just tried Maybelline's Instant Age Rewind Eraser Concealer, and am thoroughly impressed with it! The coverage is so great, non-greasy, and it actually helps the condition of your skin. I need that, since 30 will be creeping up on me next year! Then I follow up with Maybelline FIT Me Shine Free Foundation Stick, and it blends super well and really helps keep the shine at bay. I have combination skin, so my t-zone gets super shiny. I love to give a little bronze color with Signature Club A's Nefertiti Golden Patina from HSN.

For lips, my biggest splurges are on Dior's lip balms. My husband got them for me last year for Christmas, and I have been hooked since. I'm sure he's excited to get these again once my supply has diminished (ha, not really). ;) The Crème de Rose Smoothing Plumping Lip Balm smells amazing (like roses, really!) and makes your lips super supple and slightly plumps them without any stinging, and the Dior Addict Lip Glow gives your lips a natural glow when you don't want to wear lipstick or lipcolor. It also helps enhance any lip color as well. And since it's fall, I love a good burgundy or wine colored lip, and preferably one that stays on, like Maybelline SuperStay 14HR Lip Color in Wine and Forever. Cute name huh?

As for eyes, this is the part of my face that I probably spend the most time on. Amanda and my cousin Sarah will tell you that I am really big on sharp cat-eyes, and it's because I truly believe it enhances the shape of my eye and help makes them pop. I love bronze & brown shadows, like the Revlon Colorstay Brazen Eye Shadow Quad. And I have a technique to lining my eyes - I always line with the Palladio Retractable Eyeliner first, then top off the pencil liner with e.l.f.'s Triple Tip Waterproof Eyeliner Pen - the tip on this pen looks intimidating at first, because it resembles a fork, but it gives an amazing, solid, inky black line to your cat eye, and really helps fill in any gaps between your lashes. I sent Sarah one recently, and she and I were impressed with it's waterproof qualities. I tested it in the sweltering heat of Florida summer, and she wore it to summer music festivals - and it didn't budge for both of us. Nicely done e.l.f. ;) And because my eyelashes are straight and stubborn, like my hair, curling them requires a quality eyelash curler and amazing mascara - and Shu Uemura is a beauty favorite over and over because it truly performs. L'Oreal Voluminous False Fiber Lash Mascara really helps my lashes keep that curl, along with coating it with these tiny little fibers and making them look super long and lush. On days that I don't do makeup, I at least try to curl them and wear some mascara - and these two tools are the ones that I can't live without! And for eyebrows, like Amanda, I use e.l.f.'s Clear Brow & Mascara.

Other than those essentials, I always have Goody's Spin Pins on me for throwing my hair up in a top-knot - these are great for thick hair and keeping it in place! And Goody's Ponytailer Bracelet - I always wear one or two on my wrist because it looks like a bracelet, and whenever I need to tie my hair up it's right there, doubling as an accessory! How can one not love a product that serves more than one function?! While I don't wear perfume everyday, I do enjoy it for date nights or special occasions - and my go to signature scent is Moschino I Love Love Cheap and Chic.

Hope that you enjoyed our fave beauty products posts, and that you'll share some of your own favorite beauty products and any tips and tricks. :)
