Sunday brunch sans the littles (and the hubbys)

Sometimes a girls day is all you really need. Especially when you can actually enjoy every bite of your meal and sip on that glass of wine without a little person fussing for crayons or wriggling out of their highchair. Though we absolutely adore our little ones, we've decided that we needed to put forth more efforts on having more "mamas only" days.  And a little local exploration of our beautiful city couldn't hurt either. We feel like we've been lagging on getting to know some of the new restaurants and shops that are popping up all over town, and several of these new places are really becoming family (and doggy) friendly! It's so refreshing to see more families pushing strollers along Beach Drive in Saint Petersburg, because for a while there it was more of a scene for snow birds or perhaps the young and trendy? Or, maybe we are just catching sight of these strollers now that we are mamas ourselves? ;) Either way, we are really stoked to start doing more family outings to these great local spots.

So this past Sunday, we declared it a girls day and informed the husbands.  Amanda has never been to Cassis American Brasserie, even though she and her hubby Craig frequent the Beach Drive area for date nights, she's always wanted to try it. I'm a huge fan of their brunch, and no doubt their bakery (we could eat macarons and croissants all day in our household) and their brunch menu is so awesome that you really take a good while debating on what you want to order. We decided on the asparagus egg white omelet with goat cheese & smoked salmon, and the lobster and vegetable ratatouille frittata. Sooo goods. Amanda admits she's always wanted to try a ratatouille after seeing the Disney Pixar movie Ratatouille.

And of course you have to stop at the Bakery! We pored over the gelato flavors and drooled over the various french pastries, and took home some macarons for our littles and thought about maybe sharing them with our hubbys. We walked the Beach Drive shopping district, and stepped into the Kilwin's shop and found some of our favorite Sea Foam candy. Along the way we stopped in the adorable shop Agora, where their items were beautiful and unique. We are definitely coming back to pick up some gifts for the holidays.

We hope you had a great weekend with your family, and hope you get to enjoy a girls day very soon. We are hoping to make time for more of these days ourselves!
